New Gaza ceasefire proposal but prospects appear slim

The mediator Egypt has presented a new Israeli proposal for a high Gaza’s fire to Hamas, says Al Qahera News TV, affiliated with the Egyptian State.

However, a senior Hamas official said that at least two elements of the proposal were no workshops.

Citing Fuentes, Al Qahera said the mediators expected Hamas’ response. But the superior evaluation of Hamas Sami Abu Zuhri official suggested that it was unlikely that the militant group agreed.

Abu Zuhri told Reuters that the proposal did not meet the central demand of the Palestinian group that Israel commits himself to a complete stop of hostilities.

In the proposal, Israel also requested for the first time the disarmament of Hamas in the next phase of negotiations, that the militant group will not agree, Abu Zuhri said on Monday.

“Delivering the weapons of the resistance is a million red lines and is not subject to consideration, much less discussion,” said Abu Zuhri.

Israel restarted his offensive in the enclave in March, finishing a high fire that entered into force at the end of January.

The last round of conversations on Monday in Cairo to restore the high fire and free Israeli hostages ended without apparent progress, said Palestinian and Egyptian sources.

Hamas insists that Israel undertakes to finish the war and take out its strength from the Gaza Strip, as agreed in the True Fuego Alto Agreement that entered into force at the end of January.

Israel has said that war will not end unless Hamas is eliminated and returns to the remaining hostages held in Gaza.

“Hamas is ready to deliver to hostages in a lot in exchange for the end of the war and the withdrawal of the Israeli army” of Gaza, said Abu Zuhri.

Since he restarted his military campaign last month, the Israeli forces have killed more than 1500 Palestinians, Gaza’s health authorities said. It has displaced hundreds of thousands of people and imposed a blockade in all supplies entering the enclave.

Meanwhile, 59 Israeli hostages remain in the hands of militants. Israel believes that 24 of them are alive.
