Naoya Inoue remained unbeaten after retaining the undisputed junior featherweight title with an eighth round technical knockout of Ramon Cardenas in front of a packed house in T-Mobile Arena.

Inoue (30-0, 27 food), which was beaten in the second round, played the aggressor much of the fight by using Precision and Power to carve through Cardenas (26-2) and send the announced 8.474 event in a madness.

“By watching tonight’s fight, everyone is well aware that I like it,” Inoue said. “I was very surprised (at the Knockdown), but I took things quietly and put myself together. … from then on I made sure I didn’t take that punch again. ‘

The Japanese icon, lovingly known as ‘Monster’, landed 57 of 103 power states (55%) in the sixth and seventh rounds alone per Compubox.

Inoue, who fought in Las Vegas for the first time in four years, was ahead with identical scores of 68-63 on all three judges’ scorecards at the time of the stopping.

“The fans here were supportive and wonderful,” says Ionue, 32. “And I hope I could entertain them.”

Inoue opened the fight with confidence by landing several shots.

But when he loaded forward in the second round, Inoue went directly into Cardenas’ right hand and dropped the unbeaten champion.

It will not take long for Inoue to shake off the crime, as he continued to dominate by choosing his places, going from the body to the head and pulling his challenger. At the end of the fourth round, Inoue threw 48 of the 90 strokes, including 33 power shots.

However, Cardenas seems to record everything while he opposed when he could.

Inoue caught Cardenas near the halfway of the sixth round and drove him in the corner while landing several combinations. With Cardenas throwing counters, Ionue has used the last 18 seconds to powder the 29-year-old challenger.

Inoue scored his first knockout of the fight in the seventh round, caught Cardenas in the corner and dropped him after landing four consecutive rights.

Knowing that he defeated his opponent was in the eighth round in the eighth round, and eventually asked referee Thomas Taylor to step in.

“He is one of the biggest fighters on the planet pound-by-pound,” Cardenas said.

Inoue is scheduled to fight a compulsory match against Murodjon Akhmadaliev in September, which can be its most difficult challenge so far.

Rafael Espinoza (27-0, 23 CO’s), the co-head event, retains his WBO springweight belt with a TKO by Edward Vazquez (17-3) at 1:47 of the seventh round. Espinoza dominated in all seven rounds and threw it from the fourth round until referee Harvey Dock stepped in to stop the fight.

Rohan Polanco dropped Fabian Maidana with a thundering body in the 10th round and won with unanimous decision. With the win, Polanco (16-0, 10 COs) retained his minor welterweight title. Maidana fell to 24-4.

Emiliano Vargas (14-0, 12 COs) used an evil combination that finished with a left over the face of Juan Leon (11-3-1) for a second round of technical knockout at 1:40. Vargas is the son of former two -time light middleweight champion Fernando Vargas.
