The mother of a man who was killed in a shooting in South Wairarapa over the weekend says her “heart is broken.”
Doreion Peri Ropata, 23, was found in a vehicle in Carterton with a bullet injury from which he died later.
The discovery came after the report of a shot or shots fired at a vehicle as it was expelled from the supermarket of new options in neighboring Featherston, sending emergency services running to the site around 4 pm on Saturday.
Two men will appear at the Wellington District Court on Monday, accused of murder after the shooting.
In an obituary for the 23 -year -old man, he said he was a beloved partner, father of two children, son and stepson.
The tribute also said he was a beloved brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend of many.
His mother Selena said “she left very early.”
“You were an amazing, loving, loving and funny person … I was so proud of you … I just saw the best in you! I was very grateful to be your mother.”
The obituary said the details of the funeral should be advised.
She said her brothers were deeply saddened by his death as well.
The family refused to talk to RNZ.
