The customs seized a total of 25 kg of illicit drugs, with a street value of just over $ 9 million in two separate smuggling attempts.

He said more than 23 kg of methamphetamine and cocaine were found on Tuesday night in two unaccompanied bags from a Honolulu flight to Auckland.

Customs estimated that this amount of drugs would have a combined street value of up to $ 8.9 million and caused about $ 23.4 million in damage and potential costs for the country.

In the second case, on Tuesday night, Customs Officers arrested a 57-year-old man for trying to smuggle 1.9 kg of methamphetamine hidden in the coating of his suitcase on a flight to Auckland Sydney.

The man was accused of importation and possession to provide a class A controlled medicine.

The seized amount was worth approximately NZ $ 0.59 million.

Auckland’s interim manager, Auckland’s interim manager, Benjamin Wells said the two interceptions showed that the criminals would strive to take drugs on the border.

“We are seeing attempts to smuggle large and blatant at the airport, as well as the leather deeply hidden,” he said.
