A teacher of special education and football coach in Illinois facing the allegations of sexual assault said she felt “scared” because officers arrested her in March, as seen in the new -rising police camera footage.
Christina Formella, 30, is charged with a series of charges of criminal sexual assault after the state prosecutors claim to have manipulated and sexually abused a vulnerable student ‘to the Downers Grove South High School in Illinois, according to the court documents seen by The independent.
In the bodycam video, formella was heard and said, “I’m so scared” because she was placed in the shackles by a Downers Grove police officer.

The officer tells her that detectives should talk to her about a continued investigation in which he is not involved.

The teacher first appeared on the police Radar on March 15 when the victim, a minor who was 15 years old at the time of the alleged assault, and his mother reported inappropriate sexual contact with his football coach and tutor, who was alleged to be 28 at the time, at the Downers Grove Police Department.
In the video, it is then seen that formella is taken to the station and asks, “Excuse me, do my husband come along?”
“I really would prefer my husband to be with me,” she said, shaking her head angry about the officer’s answer.
“Am I in trouble? I’m so lost now, ‘she tells officers while being handcuffed.
“I feel like I’m going to vomit – what’s going on?” She says later in the cut.
Formella allegedly started working as a special education teacher at Downers Grove South High School in August 2020 and started working as a football coach for the boys and girl’s teams in 2021.
The authorities claim that in December 2023, formella sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy while the couple was in a classroom for a tutorial session before the start of the school day.
The victim’s mother discovered the alleged assault while transferring the text messages of her son, who was transferred opposite an old phone, to a newly purchased phone via iCloud, according to documents.
As said in the documents, the unknown number sent a message to the child’s phone that reads: “I like to have a *** with you.” The 15-year-old boy later admitted to police that the number belonged to his football coach.
School officials confirmed to The independent The formella was a teacher at Downers Grove South High School and was “immediately placed with administrative leave.”
She is no longer allowed on school grounds.
The school is still working with law enforcement officers as an investigation.
Formella is expected to appear in court on April 14, 2025.
