Matildas name 23-strong squad for two-match international series against South Korea

The Matildas have appointed a team of 23 players for their two -game international series against South Korea, with midfielder Katrina Grounge missing injuries.

Gorry withdrew from the Matildas International Camp after collecting an ankle injury in West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the Super League Women’s weekend.

His absence opens a place in the team for the Melbourne City FC midfielder, Leah Davidson.

Davidson made his debut for Australia at the end of last year and is in the row of possible third and fourth limits for matildas in the series against the ladies of Taegeuk classification of the number 19 of the world.

The game one of the series will be played on Friday night at the Sydney Football Stadium, while the game two will be in Newcastle on Monday, April 7.

Sam Kerr has not been appointed in the team, but will be linked to teammates in a capacity that does not play in Sydney this week after addressing its recent judicial case of the United Kingdom, where she was declared innocent by a position of racially aggravated harassment of a police officer.

Kerr has not played since he broke his ACL during a Chelsea training camp in January last year.

Steph Cathery will continue as a pattern for the series.
