The following is a comment on social networks published by the Australian evangelical leader Outspken Martyn iles, who now lives in Cincinatti, USA.
After having lived in the United States for almost two years, I have realized something, the United States and the rest of the western world are no longer aligned.
We all laugh and make fun when Americans say: “Freedom!” Because we really think we are as free as they. Mistaken. We are not. Not even close. Laws, mentality and behavior are totally different in this regard.
Above all, governments are totally different. The convictions of the United States around central freedoms are on a scale that we do not share. Meanwhile, Donald Trump wins the popular vote, the Electoral College, the Chamber and the Senate … a man who, in all other Western countries, is carried out in open mockery, if I do not despise.
For these and other reasons, we are not the same. However, the West, including Australia, hopes to trust the United States for our own survival. If the world becomes bad (which will happen, only a matter of time), then the entire west, without the United States, is toast.
So, you can ask: if we are not very ideologically aligned, should we bring something to the party militarily? Well, no … Actually … we don’t matter much militarily.
The United States has about 470 ships in its Navy, including 11 aircraft carriers, 69 submarines, 75 destroyers … plus 110 new ships in the pipe. Australia has about 30, including 3 destroyers, 7 frigates and 7 obsolete submarines. The United Kingdom does a little better, with approximately 60.
Meanwhile, the United States has more than 14,000 military planes. An amazing number. Australia has 252 military planes. The United Kingdom has 556. The US Army. It has only 1,000,000 uniformed personnel in its army. Australia has about 45,000.
The United States spends 3.4% ($ 968 billion) of its GDP in defense. Australia spends 2% ($ 36.4 billion). The United States spends as much as the next 15 largest military spending countries (including China) combined.
The United States has a culture of struggle. Men shoot things (a lot) and hunt things, veterans are favored in everything from parking spaces to boarding aircraft. A young uniformed young man is thanks a dozen times a day.
“Oh, Americans and their weapons!” We say, in our presumed way. Yes, they have a warrior culture. We do not do it. We don’t have to do it, because we are a leech on yours.
How many British young people are willing to fight for their country? Now ask about the young Americans. The difference is almost as wide as it could. Military, we do not offer squats.
Meanwhile, look at how Australia works against the interests of the United States loving in China. China made us rich and we stayed close. This is a Marxist regime with expansionist objectives.
Again, you must spend time in the United States to realize how vast abyss there is among us in China.
Europe too. They let China make way everywhere, from Germany to Greenland, while importing Islam and sends their own people to court for saying words.
Somehow, we have achieved a life with the USA. Uu. That says: “When the evils arrive, you will save us, okay?” Because we cannot save ourselves.
And we live in peace. But we continue red of freedoms, we continue to allow China and get flaccid and selfless about our military because Uncle Sam has it.
And, let’s be honest, Americans are widely belittled. To add insult to the injury, we do not believe that they are very good about our protectors.
Then, the United States is finally saying “enough.” I am here, I can tell you what the atmosphere is, and that’s all. Trump is doing what people want in this regard. They are overcome. And we find everything surprised and hard. We behave like people without Autoinsight at all.
Yes, the global alliance system is everywhere now. From the perspective of the United States, it is time. And I must say that, although I am a proud Australian, I am forced to agree. Something has to change.
About the future of America
The United States will end one day, and will be consistent with the will of God. I thought about that while this uploaded: the bunker Hill Momumument in Boston Ma two days ago (it’s a good training!)
This is the site of the first great battle of the American revolutionary war; Part of a chain reaction of events that created the United States. Honest people have to admit that the United States is a great power with many great advantages.
Like my American friends, I want the United States to succeed: to prosper materially, spiritually and morally. It is correct to follow these things for the United States. It is a blessing to see them pass. It’s sad when they don’t. But there is a tension created by a larger image reality that we cannot ignore.
Scriptures reveal that the empires and powers of the world will never demand history, but will only equal episodes within history. They will rise. And they will fade. All. That is what literature known as ‘apocalypse’ (for example, Daniel, Revelation) teaches.
And it is the will of God that everyone fades … in fact, that they become like straw, they took the wind, “so that they could not find a trace of them.” (cf Dan 2:35)
Nations are not forever. Rather, it is the will of God that should not be forever! This is abundantly proven by millennia in history. It is an undeniable and unstoppable law of nature. Therefore, we must never convince ourselves that the will of God and the endless political power or national prosperity are the same.
God bless the nations for a season, and we rejoice, but his will is ultimately that they must end. Sad, but true. Although, it may not be sad … because they must end just to point to us what never ends: God and his authority above all.
In addition, nations must fall so that the eternal city of God can be introduced, in which justice is the law, and Christ is only the highest object.
