A man was shot dead by police after an incident in Milton Keynes.

Thames Valley police officers and British Transport Police were called to reports of a man who carried a firearm at the Milton Keynes Railway Station at 12.55 hours today.

According to Thames Valley police, armed officers answered the power and challenged the man before shots were fired by police.

Despite attempts to save the man, he was pronounced dead at about 13.44 hours.

According to police, they do not believe that there is a further risk to the public.
