Man shot by police during welfare check in Melbourne’s south-east


Police have shot a man during a social assistance control in a house in Melbourne‘Southwest.

The police were called to the property in Doveton after the neighbors reported an argument between a man and a woman before the 9 am of today.

Before the officers arrived, it is believed that the two abandoned the property separately and the police were no longer required.

Then, the police were called to the same house at 10.30 am, where the officers tried to talk to the man in the front of the house.

Police claimed that the man ran aggressively to an officer with a metal post when the police shot a shot.

The 33 -year -old man was taken to the hospital with minor wounds from the top of the body and remains under the police guard.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident with supervision of the Command of Professional Standards has been launched.
