Man posing as British cardiologist held in India after fatal surgeries

An Indian man allegedly as the British cardiologist Dr. A John Camm was arrested for the performance of unauthorized operations that allegedly caused the deaths of seven patients in a Christian missionary hospital.

Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, 53, is accused of falsifying medical degrees, personalizing the well -known British cardiologist and working in hospitals in India for almost two decades.

Only hours before his arrest on Monday, he even filed a legal notice to seek 50 million Indian rupees (£ 455,000) of those who accuse him of personification.

Mr. Yadav worked as Dr Camm in the Mission Hospital in Damoh in the Central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

He is facing charges of forgery, fraud and lives in danger. The hospital also accused him of theft.

He denied all allegations.

An investigation by Indian broadcaster NDTV found that the alleged medical degrees of Yadav – MBBS, MRCP of London and DM in Cardiology – appear to be false. The MBBS registration number allegedly belonged to a woman, and there were no credible records of his other “qualifications”.

According to police, the articles and devices of Mr. Yadav pointed to produced identities and they tested his medical knowledge to determine if he has a real expertise. Mr. Yadav reportedly personalized the British doctor in Madhya Pradesh for 7-8 years.

In his short lead at Damoh Hospital, police said, Mr. Yadav 64 operations, including 45 angioplastic, handle. He came under the scanner in February when Damoh’s Child Welfare Committee marked several patients deaths under his watch.

Mr. Yadav soon disappeared without any notice. The president of the Child Welfare Committee, Deepak Tiwari, said they became suspicious of the man’s medical expertise and discovered online that he had faced criminal cases in at least three states.

The alleged medical fraud of Mr. Yadav dates from at least 2006, when he operated at the Apollo Hospital in Chhattisgarh, among others, to former state meeting Speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukla. He allegedly caused the death of eight patients in his time there.

An investigation at the time also raised doubts about his MBBS degree.

Questions about the identity of Mr. Yadav has emerged several times over the years. In a 2019 blog, BBC reports, he falsely claimed to have trained under British cardiologist Prof A John Camm and that he worked in top hospitals worldwide.

In a 2021 blog on MediumMr. Yadav claims to develop the John Camm Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, a 5,000-bed Super Speciality Hospital in the northern state of Rajasthan, led by “Dr N John Camm, well-known interventional cardiologist from Germany”.

He also claimed that similar healthcare facilities in Vietnam and Tanzania are planned, backed by an international team of doctors.
