A babysitter looked under a bed to reassure a worried child that there was not a monster hidden there, and he found himself face to face with a man who was not supposed to be there, says the office of a sheriff in Kansas.
The 27 -year -old was imprisoned after a fight with the babysitter who hit the child.
The Barton County Sheriff’s office said the agents were called Monday night to the house near Great Bend, a city of approximately 15,000 in the western part of the state.
The suspect was gone when they arrived, but the babysitter told them that the child had complained about a “monster” before finding the suspect.
The man once lived in the house, but that there was an order of protection against abuse issued against him to stay away from the property, said the Sheriff’s office.
The deputies sought but could not find the man until the next day, when he was captured after a feet chase, according to the press release.
Online judicial records show that man had published a bonus about 10 days before he was accused of criminal threat, domestic aggression and violating a protection order against abuse.
It was alleged that these accusations occurred in January and February.
But after his last arrest, a judge ordered him imprisoned without bail.
The Sheriff’s office said the additional charges requested include aggravated robbery, aggravated aggression and child danger.
