Toronto police said a prisoner died in the hospital a few days after Toronto police were attacked by another inmate at a correctional facility in Etobycock.
Officials were dispatched to the Southern Toronto Detention Center on Tuesday at about 6 p.m. on March 24, and one inmate reportedly attacked another, the unit said.

The result of the incident was that the victim, identified as Mangok Akol, was taken to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Three days later, Toronto residents succumbed to his injuries.
Police initially accused Andre Ford, 32, of aggravated assault, but the charges should escalate into second-degree murder.
Akol became eight victims of homicide in Toronto in 2025.
The Southern Toronto Detention Center is home to people awaiting trial, and those who are two years away every day.
Police did not provide any information on why Akol or Ford was in prison.
