Emergency services were called to John Street on Saturday, April 12 at 19.39 after the explosion in Worksop.

A 53-year-old man named David Howard died at the scene.

Police in Nottinghamshire said: “A 43-year-old man has been arrested and questioned on the suspicion of murder. He has since been bail in the hand of further investigation into the cause of the explosion.”

Detective chief inspector Ruby Burrow, from Nottinghamshire police and who leads the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with David’s loved ones at this extremely difficult time.

“While we have made an arrest, I would like to be very clear that we are investigating at a very early stage and that we are doing everything in their power to determine what caused this deeply tragic incident.
