An Ontario man charged in a 2021 cybercrime incident in Texas is now facing charges from the province.
Ontario police announced on Monday that they had arrested a 37-year-old Oshawa man in a cybercrime investigation. He was charged with mischief of computer data, unauthorized use of computers and possession of equipment to obtain unauthorized use of computers.

The man was also arrested by authorities on March 26, involving a case in the south.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) told Global News in 2021 that the defendants allegedly visited the computer system of a third-party hosting company to prevent and download backups of Texas Republican web servers.
The Justice Department said he then posted the information online and then claimed responsibility for cyber attacks on social media.
The OPP release notes that the publication ban related to the case will not provide further details.
