Major supermarket recalls popular snack over salmonella fears

A large supermarket has a popular snack over the fear of a salmonella infection that can cause “serious” diarrhea and cramps.

Lidl requested clients not to eat Sol & Mar Chicharricos BBQ pig meat and to return the 99p snacking as quickly as possible.

Salmonella symptoms include vomiting, stomach pains, headaches and high temperature and can last up to three days according to the NHS.

“Member is reminiscent of this product because of the potential presence of Salmonella, which can cause severe symptoms of the digestive tract,” the supermarket said.

“If you bought the above product, we recommend you not eat it. Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given. ‘

There are more than 2500 stems salmonella bacteria. It lives in the intestines of domestic and wild animals, including chicken, cattle, pigs, hedgehogs and lizards, added the NHS.

Foods such as eggs, chicken, pork and dairy products can carry salmonellas, with fruits and vegetables that are sometimes polluted when they come into contact with livestock or dirty water.

Earlier this week, Tesco reminds a katsu crispy time package and a sweet and sour saucepan after the range does not flag, that the products contain soy, for which some people are allergic.

The recall influenced Katsu Curry kits with the best date up to and including December 12, 2025 and the Sweet and Sour Meal Kit with the best date until May 19, 2025.

Officials at the Food Standards Agency (FSA), who published the warning, said the products sold in 250 g packs were a potential health risk to everyone with an allergy to soy.

Supermarket customers were told not to eat the products and rather return them to any Tesco store for a full refund.

In February, the Food Standards Agency sold a ‘don’t eat’ warning on Baxter’s cut Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet, sold in supermarkets like Tesco for £ 2.50.

It has been feared that the sandwich and citizen accompaniment contains unexplained mustard, which could pose a danger to those with an allergy to the spices.

Baxter’s food group, which produces the product, said the recall only affects certain jars with specific best before dates. This includes in June 2026 and July 2026.

Mustard allergy sufferers may experience symptoms such as stomach pain, swollen lips, vomiting or rash if they accidentally eat a product it contains.
