Southern won a 50-27 win over the university in Logan Park on Saturday to keep the VG Cavanagh Memorial Trophy in the opening round of the Dunedin Division 1 competition.
Defender Levi Emery and left wing Josh Buchan took two attempts each.
The 8 Konrad Toleafoa number made some blood races and blocked Corban Agar charged the ball twice to mark two additional attempts.
The combat seemed practically optional for the home team. And also took the ball.
The students had a more worthy performance of a pre -season hit. They fell a lot of pill.
It was not all bad, however. They defended themselves strongly for about 30 minutes and made the most of small pieces of possession to open a 10-0 advantage.
The south returned to lead 24-10 at the break.
Emery scored both sides of the break, which opened a 21 -point advantage.
Ricky Jackson university prostitute fell to close the gap. But Hagar attacked the ball and southern prostitute Bede Dodd-Edgar ended.

Buchan was excellent in his first return game after a long interval of injury.
The first five Wyndham Patuawa were solid until he forgot to wear his arms on the tackle and copied two yellow cards.

Kaikorai 22
Taieri First Cameron Millar pierced three penalties and two conversions to help his side edge Kaikorai by 23-22.
As the score suggests, there was not much in it.
The battle of light packages was virtually uniform.
Kaikorai pushed some lineouts away, and one was in an attack position.
None of the sides was able to divert the other too far in Scrum. It was an impasse in front.
Kaikorai looked more threatening on his back. The first five Ben Miller and defender Charlie Breen made some revealing races.
Taieri Lock Benjamin Strowger-Turnock and Flanker BlindSide Caine Taylor made strong performances. Prop Jack Sexon also had a good game.
The game was tied 10-10 in the break.
Taieri scored to lead by 17 to 10 and Millar increased the advantage for 10 points with a penalty.
Kaikorai gathered. Captain Lucas Casey surpassed and Miller pierced the conversion to cut the difference to three points.
Miller added another penalty to help the eels to be a little clearer.
Kaikorai scored late, but failed to convert to win the victory. They made a bonus point for a bonus point for a narrow loss that can be valuable in playoff calculations at the end of the year. – ADRIAN SECONI

Alhambra-Union 22
Zingari-Richmond fired an early warning shot with a convincing 61-22 victory over the Alhambra-Union team at North Ground.
Prostitute Tino Salanoa marked a hat-trick in the premiere and showed that it will be a force to be considered in the color shirt.
Lock Ratunui Latus and loose strikers Lawrence Leung-Wai and Tofatuimona Solia were also impressive.

Leading by 32-17 at the break, Zingari-Richmond succumbed again to an initial attack by Alhambra-Union as he flying Kobe Tuhakaraina, who flew in the left wing, Tuhakaraina, marked his third attempt to make a hat-trick in his debut.
But after a 10-minute opening in the second period, the floodgates opened to Zingari-Richmond.
Half -kids Ben Fakava and Jonah Lowe were a handful, while the middle -middle McKenna skill was excited around the banks and in support.
The first five Tyree Manaia were solid in defense and under the high ball.
Tuhakaraina was excellent for Au and Lock Levi Turoa and loose strikers Zac Perrett and Sam McLean put the backyards. – Wayne Parsons

DUNEDIN 8
Well, the season started in brilliant conditions at the kettle park. It was a pity that the game did not do justice.
It was a case full of errors, Dunedin the main aggressor and current Green champion Island, good enough to capitalize.
Dunedin lost touch on five occasions of penalties with some attack positions and that was expensive to them.
The handling on both sides was bad when the nervous people of the season emerged.
There were many penalties in the game and Dunedin Lock Curtis Palmer collected two yellow cards, the second updated Red, so Dunedin played more than a quarter of the game with 14 men.
Dunedin dominated early and the first five Cam Burgess defeated a penalty after 12 minutes to give them early leadership.
It took until the 28th minute with Dunedin to 14, when GI received some impulse in 22 and made the numbers count, placing the Nico Bowering wing to the converted attempt to lead 7-3 in the interval.
At the beginning of the second half, Dunedin forced a 5m line of a penalty and prostitute Fatai Koloi buried to give them an advantage of one point.
Gi forced a Sloppy Dunedin turnover to play a few minutes later and they climbed to the 22 of a Ronan race (8) and the next prostitute, Heath Macewan, fell to restore the leadership at 14-8.
The best back of the game, Samuel Nemec-Voli, ended a 60m movement to seal the game.
The game was canceled 10 minutes later, when Dynes landed awkwardly on a tackle, breaking his leg. He then had to wait on the floor in agony for an hour and 20 minutes for an ambulance to arrive.
It was a strange view when his team was still watching with him.
For GI, Dynes was the best forward, skillfully supported by the folder folder Amos Roddick.
Dan Smart was tidy in midfield and Nemec-Vol was extremely dangerous on the back.
For Dunedin, Koloi was solid in front and the flanker Max Ratcliffe was in his best construction.
