Residents of Langley Seniors’ Apartments shouted without a working elevator.
In February, Global News first spoke with FIR residents on 54th Avenue and 204th Street when the elevator had been broken for a month.
Two months later, nothing changed, and residents said they were told it could take weeks or even months.

“It’s hard when… your legs don’t want to work,” said Glenn Piper, a resident of the second floor.
“I have a friend on the third floor. If she goes out to the grocery store, she can hardly move and she is tired after she gets home.”

The building has about 90 elderly and disabled people, many of whom have travel problems and complex housing needs.
Sherin Munz, who uses a mobility scooter, said she has been unable to use the building’s laundry facilities since January because the machines are located on the second and third floors.

“I can’t go upstairs. I can’t get help. You call them and you will never get a call.”
“Now, I’ve brought it to my son because my son can carry it with me, do laundry and help me bring it back.”
The most frustrating thing, AJ Botel said, was the lack of communication and updates from building operators, calling the situation “frustrating.”
He said management initially posted a poster saying the elevator would go out with their parts purchased for 16 weeks – but has since been removed.
“We are a building over 55, and I’m going to say that 90% of us use some kind of caregiver, like a walker, chair or something,” he said.
“The people we were there had to call the fire department to let them down.”
The Langley Lion Housing Association, which manages the property, has not responded to a request for comment.
