The Clontarf Cup will return to Langley Park for the second year after the city of Perth extended its association with the Clontarf Foundation.
The Clantarf Cup will bring together 280 aboriginal and islanders of the Strait of Torres from all over Western Australia for a day of competition of Australian rules on Wednesday, April 2.
The Foundation supports young aborigines and islanders of the Strait of Torres by promoting education, life skills, self -esteem and employment opportunities.
Established in 2000 with a single academy located in Waterford, the Foundation has grown to support more than 12,000 young men in 162 academies in Australia.

The vice president of the city of Perth, Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the city was proud to continue supporting this inspiring initiative.
“Clontarf is an incredible organization that allows young men to remain involved in school, complete the year 12 and successfully transition to tertiary studies or workforce,” said CR Reynolds.
“We are delighted to welcome the Clotarf Cup back to our city and we hope to witness a fantastic sample of skill and sportsmanship, maybe even glimpse future stars in action.”
The executive president of the Clontarf Foundation, Gerard Neesham, said the Clontarf Cup was a powerful way of encouraging young aboriginals and island men of the Strait of Towers to fight at school.
The Foundation has already helped more than 7824 young aborigines and islanders of the Strait of Torres to complete the year 12 and find employment.

Neesham said the association with the city of Perth provided the perfect scenario for the event.
“Langley Park is an iconic and appropriate place for our largest metropolitan carnival; there is no better backdrop for a football reinforcement day, fun and positive,” he said.
Last year, the event began with an executive breakfast, with Prime Minister Roger Cook, Governor Chris Dawson and his wife Darrilyn Dawson, along with several members of Parliament.
This year’s breakfast will have the return of Governor Dawson and the deputy of Perth Patrick Gorman.
The matches will extend from 9 am to 3 pm on April 2, with trophies presented at the end of the day.
