Kevin De Bruyne confirms Man City exit with emotional statement

Kevin de Bruyne confirmed that he will leave Manchester City after a decade with the club at the end of the season.

De Bruyne, 33, enjoyed a glittering 10-season game under Pep Guardiola and became the focal point of a team that started an era of the dominance of the Premier League.

The Belgian has won 16 trophies since joining Wolfsburg in 2015, including six league titles as well as a famous club first Champions League in 2023.

However, the Belgian saw its minutes be limited this season after being hampered by injuries in recent campaigns, and has now announced in an emotional statement that he will leave the Etihad when his contract expires in the summer.

De Bruyne takes to Instagram and writes: “If you see it, you probably realize where it is going. So I will get straight to it and let you all know that it will be my last months as a Manchester City player.

“Nothing about this is easy to write, but as footballers we all know that this day is finally coming. The day is here – and you deserve to hear it from me first.

‘Soccer led me to all of you – and to this city. If I chased my dream, not to know that this period would change my life. This city. This club. These people … gave me everything. I had no choice but to give everything back! And guess what – we won everything.

“Whether we like it or not, it’s time to say goodbye. Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele, and I am very grateful for what this place meant to our family. ‘ Manchester ‘will be on our children’s passports forever – and more importantly, in each of our hearts.

“It will always be our home. We cannot thank the city, club, staff, teammates, friends and family for this ten -year ride. Each story comes to an end, but it was definitely the best chapter. Let’s enjoy these last moments together!

“A lot of love, kdb.”

De Bruyne arrived at City in 2015 for what his second crack was on the English top flight after expanding a ‘Chelsea flop’ after a bad season under Jose Mourinho a year earlier.

The midfielder has proven himself as a generation player and one for the history books as part of the largest team the Premier League has ever seen.

However, De Bruyne was by no means a bystander when he was surrounded by so much quality, with his individual awards showing it.

De Bruyne, a four-time Manchester City player of the season and a two-time Premier League Player of the Season, worked at a level that fellow professionals could only admire. He also finished third in the balloon d’Or in 2022.

Where De Bruyne Lands Next still needs to be confirmed, although there were reports that he could switch the top rift of European football for a massive contract in the Saudi -Pro league. It is also said that MLS sides are interested, while league debutants San Diego FC is apparently eager.
