Kaitlyn Bristowe Says She ‘Blacked Out’ from Cramps That ‘Hurt So Bad’

Kaitlyn Bristowe is getting real about her ups and downs over the past week.

“Highs and lows this week 👇🏼 ❤️,” Bristowe, 39, wrote via Instagram on Friday, March 14, before listing out her high points. “Extra hot matcha latte, Writing music, Working with horses, Playing cards on a patio, Funny friends, Dogs Movies and cuddling.”

As for her “lows”? “Pms, Cramps that hurt so bad I blacked out, [her dog] Ramen eating plastic needing xrays, Fetal position crying in therapy, Flat tire, Letting go of patterns [and] Feelings being hurt.”

“Gentle reminder that we don’t post the lows ❤️,” she concluded. “Also feeling grateful I GET TO feel.”

Alongside the candid message, Bristowe shared a series of photos including a mirror selfie and an image of her standing alongside a horse in a stable. In one pic, Bristowe smiled for a selfie with her dogs, who sat in the backseat of her car.

The former Bachelorette has been open through the years about her mental health struggles. While reflecting on her time as the lead of the ABC reality series, Bristowe exclusively told Us Weekly that she fell back into a depression while filming.

“I didn’t get anywhere near where I was in that really dark time [in my 20s], but I definitely struggled with depression during the show and while I was facing all that scrutiny,” Bristowe recalled to Us in May 2020. “I saw myself going down that same path, but I had the tools and the self-respect and everything to know that I was OK, and it was just an easier transition for me because I was confident in where I was at as a person.”

She continued: “But I’m just, that’s not who I am. I don’t want to live my life like that, and it had been long enough and I was just so done with feeling numb because Kaitlyn Bristowe loves to feel her feelings and being numb is not doing that. It’s fine to be sad and have your moment and I really sat in my sadness, but it’s about coming out on the other side and what you do with it after.”
