Jude Bellingham eyes historic Real Madrid comeback against Arsenal

Jude Bellingham is confident that Real Madrid can turn a 3-0 first-legged Champions League deficit against Arsenal on Wednesday to discuss their place in the last four.

Real was left stunned by the Gunners at Emirates Stadium last week after Declan Rice scored two excellent free kicks to leave Carlo Ancelotti’s side with a mountainous task.

But the 15-time European champions Real have produced some unlikely comebacks over Manchester City and Chelsea in 2022, plus Bayern Munich last season and Bellingham want to be involved in another memorable turnaround last season.

The English midfielder said: ‘This is something you want to be part of. You want to add the history of this club.

‘There’s not much you can do for Real Madrid in the Champions League that hasn’t been done yet.

“Tomorrow is an opportunity for us to do something (overcome a 3-0 deficiency) for the first time, and it’s really important for us.”

“As far as is spiritually strong enough, we believe it. You can’t think in a game like this that there’s going to be anything other than a return.

“That’s how we think about the game. We are ready, we are excited and look forward to it.

“It’s a strange environment over the last few days. One of the worst results we could possibly imagine, and for some reason everyone thinks it is nailed that we will return.

“It’s a nice feeling, I have to say. There is a lot of confidence in the talent. This means that you are at a club that is different from any other, the best in the world.

“That’s what it represents to me. There is a pressure associated with it and we want to deliver what everyone thinks.

“That’s the purpose and there’s a pressure, but that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?”

Real overturned a two-purpose deficiency in the second leg of their semi-final against Pep Guardiola’s city in 2022 and came from behind to beat Bayern Munich in the last four last season.

Bellingham said the return gave the current confidence to progress to the semi -finals.

“The more you talk to the other boys and you see the confident they are, the more it rubs you, the boys who have experienced these situations before.

“It rubs off. It is contagious and it makes you much more comfortable with the situation we are in. ‘
