Chairman of the Chamber, Mike Johnson, will try to vote on a budget plan to finance President Donald Trump’s agenda.
The chamber is expected to vote at 10am on the measure, which was adopted by the Senate last week.
“I am happy to tell you that this morning I believe that we have the votes at the end to accept the budget resolution so that we can move on to the very important program of President Trump for the US people,” Johnson told a press conference with the leader of the Senate majority John Tun.
Johnson failed on Wednesday night when he was forced to transfer a planned vote due to opposing a small group of Republican hardliners who are concerned that the budget will add the nation’s deficit.
Johnson said there were “very productive” discussions with members on Wednesday night and on Thursday seeks to emphasize efforts to reduce costs by more than a trillion dollar.
“We are committed to finding at least $ 1.5 trillion savings for the American people while maintaining our basic programs,” Johnson said.
Tun seemed less enthusiastic than the purpose of reducing the deficit, but gently approved the high purpose of the Chamber of Budget Saves – the declaration of the ambition of the Senate for fiscal resistance was “aligned with the House”.
“We have to do something to get the country in a more fiscal path, and this leads us to take a heavy scrub of our government, finding out where we can find these savings,” Tun said. “The speaker has talked about $ 1.5 trillion. We have many senators of the United States who believe it is a minimum and we will do our best to be as aggressive as possible.”
President Donald Trump, who personally participated in trying to accept the measure, weighing on Thursday morning that the Republicans were “approaching”.
“” The Big, Beautiful Bill “is coming very well. Republicans work well together. The biggest tax reductions in US history !!!”, Trump wrote in a publication in his conservative social media platform.
Johnson is facing a short window to get the measure above the final before the house is planned to continue on his two -week April recess.
The speaker can only afford to have only three defects from their cuff, with all members voting and insisting.
Goop House leaders have been confronted in the last week to reduce votes after more than 20 Republicans have expressed concern that the Senate resolution has put a floor of only $ 4 billion in savings. Now Johnson says he has the necessary support.
“Our goal is to fulfill our promises,” Johnson said.
