Vice President JD Vance told US service members that the Danish government did not protect sufficient Greenland and said America should do ‘more’ to counteract what he claimed, ‘Russian and Chinese exceeding’ on the strategically important Arctic island, which repeatedly threatened President Donald Trump to Annex despite a decades-long alliance with Denmark.

During a brief visit to Pituffik Space Base during a short visit with his wife, Second Lady Usha Vance, Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz, and other officials of the administration, Vance accused the Copenhagen of not keeping a pace with military spending ” Aggressive Invourses of Russian, from other nations.

‘Unfortunately, the story of Greenland has been to safety for the past 20 years that we have invested in the infrastructure. We have invested in the security architecture, and we have invested in the brave men and women who do a very hard work … to keep us all safe. That has to change now, ‘he said.

Vance mocked critics who quoted the Danish forces’ service with Americans and other NATO allies during the two decade war in Afghanistan by suggesting that Americans “honor the sacrifice of our Danish friends” in the same way as the French gratitude for American troops who fought to free the country from the Nazi -Germany during the Second World War.

‘Recognizing that there are important safety partnerships in the past does not mean that in the present we cannot have disagreements with allies on how to preserve our shared security for the future, and that is what it is – there is no amount of bullying, no degree of eclipse, no amount of confusion. Our message to Denmark is very simple: You have not done a good job. In the security architecture of this incredible, beautiful land mass full of incredible people.

Vance’s uninvited journey to Greenland, where the US maintained bases as part of a long alliance with Denmark, is the youngest in a series of war -like display Trump and his top lieutenants made the self -governing island. The president has repeatedly claimed that the US should take ownership of the landmass to guarantee America’s safety, even if Denmark is a NATO member with an obligation to defend the United States as part of the 32-member alliance.

His visit was initially scheduled to include cultural stops and meetings with indigenous Greenlanders, but the Trump administration could not find anyone who was willing to host him and his wife for a photo opportunity.

The Vice President also claimed that the United States believes that “in the self -determination of the population of the people of Greenland” despite the ‘argument’ with the ‘leadership of Denmark’ about Copenhagen’s alleged ‘under -investment’ in Groenland’s safety.

Asked by a reporter whether the US intends to increase the military presence on Greenland and whether there were plans drawn up to seize the island by force, Vance said that there are “general goals” in the increasing security position that “will invest in additional military icebreakers, and invest in additional naval ships that will have a greater presence in greenland.”

‘The United States must do what I know is to make sure Greenland is safe. If Greenland does not have self -determination, if the people of Greenland control their future by the Chinese Communist Party, it will not make their lives better, and most importantly, it will make American and world safety much weaker, “he said.

‘We need to wake up from a failed 40 -year -old consensus who says we can ignore the exceeding of powerful countries as they expand to their ambitions. Not only can we bury our head in the sand or in Greenland, buried our head in the snow and pretend that the Chinese are not interested in this very large land mass. We know that they are. ‘

From the question of whether his visit to the US basis was there to convey a message about Trump’s desire to acquire the island, Vvce said Americans should be “more serious about the safety of Greenland” and “cannot just ignore the desires of the president.”

‘We respect the self -determination of the people of Greenland. But my argument is for them again, I think you would be much better if you got under the US umbrella of the United States than you were under Denmark’s security meal. Because what Denmark’s security applella meant, it’s effective, they have passed it all to Brave -Americans and hope we would pick up the tab, ‘he said.
