It’s been 20 years since Windsor Spitfires met Sault Ste. Mary in the Ontario Hockey League playoffs.

That year, Spitfires became the first OHL team to rally from a 3-0 series of deficits, winning Game 7 of Game 7.

Now, the two division rivals meet again, Western Conference champion Spitfires (the second seed in the Western Conference) faces the Seventh Seed Greyhound.

Windsor played four and six games in the regular season, including the last four games of the season’s series, while winning 30-11 in six games.

“It’s going to be a tough test,” said Spitfires head coach Greg Walters, whose team is 34 points ahead of the Greyhounds. “A very hardworking team, good coach, they play hard.”

The Seven-Time Best Western Conference quarterfinals Series was held at the WFCU Center on Thursday and the second game was held at the WFCU Center on Saturday. Both games start at 7:05 pm

Trudel slams gold

Jayden Trudell returned to Calgary’s Canada Cup to capture the gold medal after seven months of leave due to injuries and surgery.

It was Trudell’s second straight year in the game as he beat Alberta’s Quang ngo by unanimous decision after two standing eight wins.

Earlier, Trudell fought at Doghouse Gym, defeating Khizar hasmi, Saskatchewan, in the semifinals after opening with Kai Pearson of Manitoba in the first round.

The LaSalle Vipers season ended Sunday with the Stratford Warriors losing 5-2.

Kade McGeen and Brendan Gouin scored for the sixth seed Vipers, who lost 4-0 to the third-seeded Warriors in the Western Conference quarterfinals of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Even series of 73

Even in the Bill Stobbs division final, the latest Essex 73 was pulled against the second-seeded Lakeshore Canadiens on Sunday.

In the 1973 game, he beat the Canadiens 5-2 and even reached the seven-point series with a 1-1 record, and now every team is winning the game.

Luke Sherk and Karson Beuglet scored twice in the 73 games, Gabe Barrette scored another goal and Captain Gabe Piccolo scored three assists.

Markus Golder led the express with 21 points on the bench. Tray Maddox and Latin Davis scored 17 points for Express, respectively. Lydell Elmore scored 15 points and 12 rebounds, Vincent Boumann added 12 points and 10 rebounds, Zavier Turner finished with 11 points and 10 assists, while Sam Muldrow added 10 points to Windsor.

Ranked sixth in Lancers

The sixth seed Windsor Lancers fell to the highest ranked Winnipeg Weisman in the comfort final at the U Sports Men’s Volleyball Championship in Brandon on Sunday.

The Lancers fell 3-0 with scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-21. Gustavo Siquiera killed seven times for the Lancers, while Darian Koskie and St. Joseph High School product Anthony Ivanovski were appointed as Windsor matchmakers, killing five people each.

The Lancers entered the comfort final after sweeping the seventh-seeded Western Conference Broncos 3-0 on Saturday, 25-14, 25-13 and 25-19. Windsor is bounced Consolation side after defeating Alberta 3-0 after 3-0 in the Eight Team Championships on Friday.
