This conflict marked the deadlier repercussion of the Gaza War and an exciting Israeli offensive after months of transfronight fire exchanges eliminated the leading Hezbollah commanders, many of their fighters and much of their Arsenal.
Hezbollah denied responsibility for Saturday attacks, saying that “had no link” to the launch of the rocket and that it remained committed to ceasing. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
An Israeli authority said the identity of the group that fired the rockets had not been confirmed. Six rockets were fired, the official said, three of whom crossed Israel and were intercepted.
Saturday’s exchange was the first since Israel, in force, abandoned a separate ceasefire in Gaza with the Palestinian militant group Hamas, an ally of Hezbollah, both supported by the Arch-Foe Iran of Israel.
At the end of the day, the Israeli military announced a second round of strikes about what they said were targets of Hezbollah.
“We hope Lebanon will take care of his part of the agreement,” he told Reuters Ophir Falk, the first -first foreign policy consultant of Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The IDF will do whatever it takes to do the cease -I can and ensure that our civilians can return home safely,” said Falk.
The Israeli Armed Forces said Saturday intercepted three rockets launched from a Lebanese district about six kilometers north of the border towards the city of Metula, on the border of Metula, the second transionic launch since the intermediate ceasefire in November in November ended the fight.
In retaliation, Netanyahu ordered the military to “act hard against dozens of terrorist targets in Lebanon.”
The Israeli military said they hit dozens of Hezbollah rocket launchers and a command center from which group militants were operating in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanon State News Agency reported Israeli air strikes and artillery dams in the south of the country, including border cities and hills about eight kilometers within the Lebanese territory.
Two people were killed and eight injured by Israeli air strikes in the south near the border, said NNA state news agency, citing Lebanon’s Ministry of Health.
There were no reports of casualties in Israel.
In Gaza, health authorities said five Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire, including a child, in incidents in Beit Lahiya and the city of Gaza, in the north of the Enclave.
The Israeli military said that several militants in a vehicle were identified approaching their troops in northern Gaza, which “represented a threat to them” and the military hit them.
An Israeli air strike in the city of Rafah, which abound the southern border of Gaza with Egypt, killed two Palestinians, doctors from Gazan said. The military of Israel did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
UN alarmed by border violence
According to the November cease agreement, Hezbollah should not have weapons in southern Lebanon, Israeli terrestrial troops should withdraw and libanese army troops should stand out in the area.
The agreement specifies that the Government of Lebanon is responsible for dismantling all military infrastructure in southern Lebanon and confiscating all unauthorized weapons.
President Joseph Aoun ordered the Lebanese army to guarantee “any violation” that could threaten stability in Lebanon. The army said it had found and dismantled three “primitive rocket launchers” in the south.
Netanyahu said Israel was responsible for Lebanon’s government for “everything that happens in its territory” and that Israel would not allow any damage to its citizens and sovereignty.
The United Nations Peace Maintenance Force in Lebanon said it was alarmed by the “volatile” situation and that any other climb could have “serious consequences for the region.”
The first -minister Nawaf Salam warned of a renewal of military operations in southern Lebanon, adding: “All military and security measures must be taken to show that Lebanon decides on war and peace issues.”
The cease -Fogo ended the intense bombing and terrain operations of Israel in Lebanon and Hezbollah’s daily dams in Israel. Each side accused the other of not implementing the business in full.
Israel says Hezbollah still has military infrastructure in the south. Lebanon and Hezbollah say that Israel is occupying Lebanese lands continuing to hold some air attacks and keeping their troops in five positions at the top of the hill near the border.
