The former Cabinet Minister and current independent deputy for Calara Andrew Gee has drawn attention for an error in social networks during the night.
In a Facebook post that called his former party, the nationals, one of the main comments praised the politician, but the comment seemed to be from the Gee account.
“Thank you Andrew Gee MP,” said the comment.
“I am new in the area and I have received multiple texts from the nationals and I have seen unpleasant ads in the newspaper of the Blue Green Mafia, it has helped me to see who the good guy is!”
9News.com.au has contacted Gee’s office to comment.
A GEE spokesman said the comment was made “without the knowledge of Mr. Gee for a new and inexperienced member of the campaign team that had access to the page”, in a statement to ABC.
The spokesman added that the personnel member “knows that it was something extremely disappointing and unacceptable to do” and gee “does not approve, approve or support under any circumstance.”
“The team member has expressed a real remorse and anguish, his duties have now modified so that it will not happen again,” added the spokesman.
“We are providing appropriate levels of attention and support.”
The publication has brought comparisons with one made by Liberal Deputy Angus Taylor in 2019, who responded to his own Facebook publication announced 1000 car spaces at the Campbelltown station in Sydney.
“Fantastic. Well done Angus. Great movement,” said the comment.
At that time, a spokesman said the answer was a “simple mistake” that occurred when an administrator changed between accounts.
