In a rare interview, it seemed as if Donald Trump’s staff staff revealed that she once told the president that the election in 2020 was not stolen from him.
Susie Wiles, who spoke to Trump’s daughter -in -law, Lara Trump, on Fox News, was asked what was “the hardest thing you ever had to tell.”
Wiles said: “The election in 2020. After the 2020 election, in ’21, came to him, and told him what he thinks the circumstance was – that’s how I managed it all.
“He said: Can you fix it?
“But he is such a resilient person and he has seen so much, it is very difficult to surprise him.”
Prior to the 2020 election, Trump repeatedly suggested that if he lost his re -election bid in November, he would claim to be cheated. In Oshkosh, Wisconsin, he said in August 2020: “We have to win the election. We can’t play games. Go out and vote. Do the beautiful absent ballots, or just make sure your vote is counted. Make sure the only way we will lose this election is if the election is.”
After his defeat in November, he did indeed claim that the election was stolen from him.
Along with his most loyal supporters, he pushed dozens of courts to reverse his loss, and tried to force officials in Georgia to “find” enough votes to change the result, and eventually a crowd of Maga supporters in Washington, DC, to go to the Capitol and “fight” on the day.
Despite a lack of evidence to confirm any serious or widespread fraud, Trump continued to say he was cheated in 2020.
The allegation, the nickname “The Big Lie”, became almost a loyalty test for those in his circle, with high-profile republicans who still refuse to admit that Biden won the election-which makes it unusual for Wiles to publicly admit that she told Trump that he was not cheated.
Trump has a long record of claiming he can only lose by fraud. Before the 2016 election, he told a crowd in Altoona, Pennsylvania, that he could only lose the state in the election of that year if Democrats cheated. He said: “We’re going to watch Pennsylvania. Go to certain areas and look and study and make other people not come in five times. The only way we can lose, in my opinion – and I really mean it, Pennsylvania – is if fraud is.”
In fact, he won the state by just over 44,000 votes.
Earlier that year, he lost the Iowa caucuses during the Republican primary against Ted Cruz. A furious Trump accused the Senator in Florida of stealing the victory and demanding a transition. Cruz replied by telling reporters: “Donald’s insults are getting more and more hysterical the more upset he gets … I wake up every day and laugh at the latest thing that Donald has tweeted.”
Ironically, Trump’s own criminal conviction in May 2024 was related to his attempts to terminate a down payment to an adult actress with which he allegedly had a relationship to corrupt the 2016 election. He was also criminally charged with his efforts to get officials in Georgia to change the outcome of 2020 in the state, and about his part in the January 6 riot. The first case is pending, while the charges were rejected in the second when Trump was re -elected in November last year. He denied any offenses in all the cases against him.
Wiles, who has built a reputation for mastering the Republican victories in Florida, was adopted by Trump as campaign manager for the 2024 election and is largely credited with the acquisition of his victory. She was named staff head of the White House in one of his first major appointments.
The 67-year-old man is expected to provide a steady hand behind the scenes for a president known for his unpredictability.
Elsewhere in the Fox News interview, Wiles says that the administration is focused on “the trade conversation, trying to settle a war – these are many great things that are important, not for now, but for the future – to rebuild the US economy and get all these criminals out of our country, peace in the world.
“I just see my work like keeping the trains on the tracks and running here on time so that the experts and especially the president and vice president can do what they need to do to fix the country.”
When asked what she wants Trump to reach by the end of his second term, she said, “I want him to … I want a world of peace, I want an America that is strong, I want a border that is safe, I want an education system – something we don’t talk about, but I’m passionate – what we will position our children to meet the future.
