Immigrants’ rights and immigration experts raise concerns after the Ministry of Homeland Security has announced that he has been creating an online database designed to monitor migrants over the age of 14 who live illegally in the country.

Promising to “use every tool available to force illegal aliens to write himself,” a DHS statement said that people who do not register and submit fingerprints may encounter fines and prison.

DHS said it relies on decades of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which requires registration by migrants over 14 years of age, which are in the United States that have not been printed or registered and have been in the country for more than 30 days.
“We know historically that we must sit down and pay attention at any time when the government says it will create a register based on national origin or race or religion or other integral characteristics, as the dramatic losses of civil freedoms and civil rights certainly follow the potentially higher,” said Heidi Altman.

As the Trump administration continues to increase its deportment efforts, Greg Chen, a senior director of governmental relations for the American Immigration Bar Association, said few people can choose to register.
“I do not think that many people will go out and register because they will be afraid too much that if they register, they will simply be deported quickly, given the aggressive plan to deport the table that the administration creates,” Chen said.
