The Ministry of Health & Human Services (HHS) seem to have downloaded a web page from the Surgeon General Surgeon Office (OSG), which includes a weapon violence advice.
In June 2024, then surgeon General Vivek Merty issued a consultant declaring violence with a weapon of public health crisis in America, calling for an approach based on evidence of change in public health, as well as a ban on attacking weapons and magazines with high capacity.
“Violence with a firearm is an emergency crisis of public health, which has led to a loss of life, unthinkable pain and deep grief for too many Americans,” says Merty in a statement at the time.
At that time, OSG issued a press release showing that at least 10 national medical organizations – including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the American Public Health and YWCA Association – wrote statements in support of the advisor.
However, the web page in which the consultations are currently existed shows the message “Page Not Found”.

“We are sorry, but there is no page www.hhs.gov to match your entry. Possible reasons: The page may have been moved, it no longer exists or the address may have been entered incorrectly,” the website said on Monday.
The White House did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
In a statement to ABC News, HHS said the department “and the service of the General Surgeon complied with the executive order of President Trump to protect the rights of the second amendment.”
Last month, President Donald Trump issued an enforcement order by directing the Prosecutor General to review “[a]LL Presidential and Agency Actions from January 2021 to January 2025, which value to promote safety, but may be imposed on the rights of the second amendment of citizens who comply with the law. “
HHS secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., said he believed in the second amendment, but that he wanted to determine the cause of the mass shootings.
In a live stream in 2023 of the X with Elon Musk Kennedy, he fiercely claims that there is “huge indirect evidence” that people who use antidepressants are more likely to perform school firing. Experts have told ABC News earlier that there is no evidence to suggest that patients with mental disorders or those who are on disorders are more violent.
Firearm injuries are the leading cause of death in the United States among children and teenagers. Suicide -linked suicide have increased among all age groups from 2012 to 2022; The largest rise is among the 10-14-year-olds, according to Murhti’s consultations.
Weapon violence programs such as Giffords – founded by former congress Gabriel Gyephors – criticized the Trump administration to eliminate consultations.
“By eliminating this important public health consultant with life -saving resources, President Trump has chosen to prioritize profits from the weapons industry before the protection of children and families,” Emma Brown, CEO of Giffords, said in a statement. “Weapons are the number one killer of American children and adolescents since 2020, and non -partisan health experts have been understanding violence with weapons as a public health crisis for years.”
