Head of the Wancargill Council back after mysterious absence

The Chief Executive of the City Council of Wintergill returned to work today, after an inexplicable absence that lasted almost four weeks.
Michael Day has been on leave since March 18, but the organization remained with his mouth closed because the main employee was far from his table.

A recent Stuff article pointed out that he had not been at work since a secret meeting was held on the board about a letter he received.

Discussions about the letter also occurred at closed doors 11 days earlier, on March 7.

In response to the questions, a council door said the day had the right to request license and have their motives held in particular, the same as any team member.

The board also refused to comment on the publicly excluded March meetings on the letter.

“The meetings involved issues protected by the local government information and meetings law, about personal privacy, protecting the team and elected members of inadequate pressure or harassment and to maintain the legal privilege,” said a gateway.

A publicly excluded risk and guaranteed risk committee meeting on March 24 included the topic of appointing a investigator, which Otago Daily Times Understands it refers to the letter.

At the March 18 meeting, Mayor Nobby Clark walked away as president due to an interest, which means the deputy mayor Tom Campbell filled his place.

Clark was an apology at the March 7 meeting due to the board’s business.

March 7 and 18 meetings were accompanied by Ross Jackson, president of the independent risk and resources committee, as well as lawyer Mary-Jane Thomas.

Day was appointed to the position of CEO in February 2023, after having previously the position of Group Manager of the Finance and Guarantee Council.
