Harvey Weinstein faces #MeToo retrial as imprisoned movie mogul returns to court

The sequel to the biggest victory of the #MeToo era begins on Tuesday, when the disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein is repeated in New York for alleged sex crimes.

It may take five days to accommodate the jurors, said Judge Curtis Farber.

The jurors in the same courtroom sentenced Weinsstein in 2020 for sexual assault before the highest court in New York to annul the sentence, deciding that the judge had not allowed the testimony of women whose charges were not part of the criminal charges.

His lawyers said he hoped that the changing political climate could make the result of Weinstein’s second test in New York different from the first.

73 -year -old Weinstein admitted that he was not guilty of all charges, including a new accusation by a woman who came forward after his sentence.

One of the women who is said to have forcibly had oral sex on her in 2006. The then actor claims he was raped in 2013. The new prosecutor claims that Weinstein forced his oral sex on her in a hotel room in Manhattan in 2006.

The defense accused prosecutors of detailing the new prosecutor as a hedge, but prosecutors denied it, and the judge declined to dismiss the case.

The alleged casualties they testify will no longer be referred to as survivors after the judge requests a defense to call Weinstein’s prosecutors who complain to witnesses. They are expected to testify under their real names.

Farber has applied from the Manhattan District Prosecutor’s Office to call a witness, who is an expert on the psychological effects of rape.

The decision to re -describe Weinsstein fell to the District Prosecutor of Manhattan Alvin Bragg, who reconfigures the way his cabinet processes sexual crimes. The Special Victims Department successfully pursues a man who raped two young women in knives after responding to his online commercial sex ads, a man who raped a cleaner in the building where he worked as a chief and a man who sexually abused two children living in the shelter where he worked.

Weinstein, who appeared in a wheelchair court, brought a case against New York because of his treatment and questioned whether he would survive a second test while imprisoned in Adhol on Rickers Island.
