Grattan on Friday: Trying too hard for a special tariff deal with Trump could be the wrong way to go


Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the opposition leader, Peter Dutton, agrees that Australia should react to the aggressive rate regime of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, continuing to seek a special agreement. They simply do not agree on which of them could better handle the challenge of dealing with the dishonest president.

Dutton said after Trump’s announcement, “the agreement is there to do,” but insisted that Albanese is not up
