A wildfire burning this weekend was brought under control – as emergency staff remain on the scene to extinguish any possible flames.
The flames began on Thursday in the Glen Trool area of Galloway Forest Park, in the west of Scotland, which later spread to Loch Doon in East Ayrshire.
Helicopters bombarded the flames during the emergency response.
The Scottish government’s resilience room (SGORR) met on Sunday night, with the Secretary of Justice and Home Affairs Minister, Angela Contance reporting the situation “is currently under control”.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said there is “no report that casualties” are and the teams continue to attend.

The team leader of Galloway Mountain Rescue Team (GMRT) spoke to Sky News and warned “We are not out of danger yet”, with attempts to dampen any possible hotspots.
Stewart Gibson said: ‘Things are calming down a bit now. I think the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service brought it under control, but we are not out of danger yet.
“The prediction with these dry conditions is to continue the next week, so we just have to wait and see what happens.”

Mr Gibson added: “I think the fire is still a little smoldering, but we were very happy that the winds are dead. That’s why it doesn’t spread.
“The helicopters that dropped water on fire contained it quite a bit. So we hope that there should be no further flare -up, and that should be at the end of the incident. ‘

A number of campers were forced to flee and leave their kit behind after the fire snapped up Friday night until Saturday.
GMRT helped to evacuate and warn campers in the region, with Rescue 199 of Prestwick flying in the air to the air aircraft.
Mr Gibson said GMRT members plan to restore the tents and kit left behind and return it to their owners as soon as it is safe to do so.
The team’s drone, which has thermal imaging to help and miss faster fires, will be used to do the damage.
The footage is then traced back to Forestry and land Scotland and the SFRs.
After the SGORR meeting, Ms. Constance, Minister of Justice, noted: ‘I have been reassured to hear that so far there is no damage to properties or adult bushveld.
“However, it remains an ongoing incident and the situation will be reconsidered with the first light.”

Meanwhile, firefighters in the Scottish Highlands are currently packing a wildfire at Mountain Stac Pollaidh in Inverpolly Forest.
Together with the Scottish Wildfire Forum, the SFRS urged people to prevent them from highlighting fires in all parts of Scotland.
Mr. Gibson said: “If you get nice again, you get many people who flock to the hills and disposable braai, etc.
“We’re just trying to warn people to be aware of what can happen. It’s about education. Some people think that wildfires do not happen in Scotland, but we see what they do every year.
“It’s hard because people go out and they want a campfire. If people are going to do this, try to be safe and make sure everything is out. ‘
