A funeral director was charged with 64 offenses after a police attack uncovered 35 bodies and human axis with his Hull salon.
Robert Bush, 47, has been charged with 30 counts of preventing a legal funeral and 30 counts of fraud by false representation on bodies found in March last year at the Legacy Independent Funeral Directors.
The Undertaker was also charged with one score of fraudulent trade related to funeral plans, which included between May 2012 and March 2024 172 victims; And one score of fraud in relation to human axis, which includes 50 victims, between August 2017 and March 2024, police said in Humberside.
Bush is also accused of two counts of theft of charities between September 2022 and March 2024.
He will appear in Hull on June 25 at the Magistrate’s Court.
A 55-year-old woman who was arrested in July 2024 was released without further steps to be taken, Humberside police said.
At a deputy head of the press conference, Constable Dave Marshall, said: “On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, we received information on the care of the deceased at Legacy Independent Funeral Directors across three premises in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
‘After the report, a complicated, protracted and highly sensitive investigation of ten months began, with a evidence submitted to the CPS on January 16 to revise it extensively.
“Today I can confirm that Robert Bush, formerly of Kirk Ella, East Yorkshire, has been charged with a joint total of 64 offenses in connection with the investigation.”
He further said: “We have updated the families of the 35 deceased with this development and we made initial contact with additional victims affected by the investigation.”
He asked people to refrain from any speculation or comments that could harm or endanger the matter.
“My sincere thanks to those affected for their patience and understanding,” he added.
“They have always been the priority and the core of the entire investigation, and it will remain, and we will please ask that their privacy still be respected.”
