Police have issued a new appeal to information in the search for a missing man who disappeared into the Scottish Highlands a year ago.
John McGrath, 52 at the time, was last seen in the John O’Groats area on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at about 10am.
Despite extensive searches by the police ScotlandSpecialist resources and partner agencies, including HM Coastguard and the RNLI, there was no trace of Mr. McGrath.
Inspector Kay Macrae said: ‘It’s been a year since John was last seen, and despite attempts at police and partner agencies, we couldn’t find him.
“It is essential that we find out exactly what happened to John while trying to give his family and friends some answers.”
Mr. McGrath is about 5ft 10in long and was slim with short gray hair as he disappeared.
Everyone who was in the John O’Groats area when Mr. McGrath has disappeared, is encouraged to ‘think back to the day’.

Inspector Macrae added: “Do you remember you saw a man matching John’s description?
“Do you still have a dashcam or video footage from the area of that day that may have trapped him?
“Anyone with information, who has not yet spoken to the police, is requested to call 101.”
