The BBC has agreed that a settlement with four of its female news providers on the claims of employment tribunal, including age and sex discrimination, understands, understands Sky News.
The presenters Annita Mcveigh, Karin Giannone, Kasia Madera and Martine Croxall launched an employment tribunal against the BBC, which would begin next week.
Ms Mcveigh, Ms Croxall and Ms Madera claim discrimination based on age, gender, a trade union member and wages, while Ms Giannone claims alleged discrimination based on age, gender and wages.
It is clear that the settlement has been reached without admission to accountability, and a three-week tribunal to hear that the demands of the presenters are not continuing.
In a statement, the presenters said: “We can confirm that we have reached a resolution at BBC management that avoids the need for a tribunal hearing on our employment-related claims.
“A protracted process that lasts almost three years is now over. We were deeply moved by the support we received.
“We look forward to contributing to the success of BBC News, especially to direct programming and the growing streaming services that are so important to our audiences.”

A BBC spokeswoman said: “After thorough consideration, we have reached a resolution that is brought to an end with four staff members and that they avoid further costs for the BBC.
“In doing so, we did not accept any liability or any of the arguments made against the BBC. We simply bring to an end all the actions brought against us, so that all those involved can move forward.
“The BBC successfully launched a single BBC news channel in 2023, which brought the best live and break news on TV and online here and all over the world.
“We welcome this opportunity to look at the future and work together on the delivery of our audiences – which is our first priority.”
Ms McVeigh has been working for the BBC since October 1995 and has been a main presenter at the BBC News Channel and BBC World News since 2006, and appears on BBC Network News.
Ms Giannone started working at the BBC in January 2005 and became a permanent staff member in April 2008. She was a main presenter on the BBC World News and the BBC News Channel.
Ms Madera has been a main presenter at the BBC News Channel and BBC World News since March 2012 and also appears on BBC1 Network News Bulletins.
Ms Croxall has been working for the BBC since October 1991 and has served as the main presenter at the BBC News Channel and BBC World News since 2001, while also appearing on BBC One Network News Bulletins.
