Through all the rims, we jumped to make lives in a new country, finding the funny side of things can really be art or an accident.

In this four -part series, Gadamambari Raghukumar talks to people with jokes and stories about his immigration.

Edd Rivera was born and raised in Tonala, Jalisco, Mexico.

The signs were always there. Edd has always been the funny guy, even his grandmother saw it in him as a child, he says.

She would make him narrate stories, tell jokes and family meetings. He would come in it.

But the career does not rhyme with comedy. Not even the call centers, construction and training in English, but over the years he has used all these different shades from work to work.

He was coming to New Zealand for a geographical accident, crossing ways to make a better life for him and his family, which really led him to comedy.

He thought New Zealand was in Europe, reached a trip to Mexico and eight years in him is still here – he legally points out.

Being a star of Tiktok and Instagram on the rise, the jokes of Edd Rivera in Spanish and English today take him touring through New Zealand, while his face receives a lot of mileage through the business of his wife Nancy de Taco – Tacos El Carnal.

However, life is far from a joke for the couple. Learn more in this first of four conversations about accidental comics.
