The Brazil High Court has decided to hear former president Jair Bolsonaro about an alleged coup.
All five judges accepted the charges against him, relating to an attempt to hold on to power after his defeat in 2022.
The Prosecutor General of Brazil last month Mr. Bolsonaro and 33 others charged.
The plans allegedly poisoned his successor, current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and killed a Supreme Court judge.
Mr. Bolsonaro has repeatedly denied crimes and says he is being persecuted politically.
The charges of coup have sentenced a sentence of up to 12 years in prison and combined with other possible crimes, he could be sentenced to decades imprisonment.
The former army captain was president from January 2019 to December 2022.
