As mentioned in the Broadway program in Vancouver, an important feature of the plan that seems to be lost in the current dense work is that there are many options. There is no single, correct density form. This is captured by the wonderful density Atlas (Density Atlas.org) created by MIT. This online tool illustrates how to pass any given density through very different build forms. These include dense medium-term developments found in cities like Paris and Barcelona and a mixture of the two, which is true in much of Tokyo. An almost unlimited array of possibilities demonstrates the importance of public participation in determining which specific forms may be compatible with local needs, values, and well-being.
