Essendon’s coach Brad Scott, expects an immediate response from his players after a “totally unacceptable” lack of effort and intention in his humiliating defeat of AFL against Adelaide.
The bombers were thoroughly defeated inside and outside the contest last Saturday when the crows finished their MCG Hoodoo with a 61 -point beating.
He left the Scott team staggering at 0-2 before another difficult task against Port Adelaide at the Marvel stadium on Thursday night.
The task of finding a victory to start his campaign became even more difficult when Elijah Tsatas (broken finger) and Archie Perkins (Quad) were discarded.
Charging…
Two days after Adelaide’s debacle, Scott was still furious, since he sought to quickly design a change in a dramatic way.
“The effort and intention is something that we base our game and was missing, which was the most disappointing for me,” said Scott.
“I was very clear [with the players] As for the areas that were missing and is totally unacceptable and not in the standard that we expect because we believe we are a capable group.
“We are working on all those system based on the system all the time, but you can have this elegant first class system and if you have no pressure on the ball, I do not think Glen Jakovich and Bruce Dougl combined can defend themselves against a total foul of pressure on the ball.”
Scott supported High Profile defender Ben McKay to find the way after he became a focus of fans anger during the first weeks of the season.

“If you look at his career, he has been under a lot of pressure on the teams he has played,” Scott said.
“I have a lot of faith and confidence in Ben. It has many good attributes.
“We put our last line defenders under enormous pressure on the weekend.
“The part of the criticism of this game and on Saturday we all deserved to be criticized. It is only the price of admission in this industry and Ben knows.
“But he is a resistant character and my work as a coach is not to respond to criticism about any of our players, my job is to train them.”
Essendon presented the second team fairer in the competition in the second round, averaging 75 games per player.
But Scott refused to use inexperience as an excuse, describing him as a “copy.”
“I am not even interested in insinuating that there is any excuse with youth.”
said.
“I think we have a capable team and expect more.”
Scott can remind the defender Jordan Ridley of the Bill Shock Protocols, since he makes at least two forced changes to his side to face Port Adelaide.
Tsatas will undergo surgery on the finger that broke during warming before scoring the best 25 provisions of his career against Adelaide, and will lose at least one party.
Perkins is also aside, while defender Lewis Hayes can get a call after a strong VFL exhibition.
Weapons midfielder Darcy Parish (back) is online to play at the VFL level while processing his return to senior action.
“The temptation is there with Darcy to hurry him, but the weekend game showed that if you are a little out of what you expose,” Scott said.
“I am not willing to put it in that position, or in the team.”
