Chelsea climbed a 1-0 derby victory over Tottenham on Stamford Bridge on Stamford Bridge early in the second half in the top four of the Premier League as Enzo Fernandez’s headball.
Enzo Maresca’s side was under pressure after playing in the international football who stopped getting excited at home, but they largely had the better of a disappointing Spurs team that couldn’t utilize the growing dissatisfaction around the home team.
Like when these teams met in North London last season, VAR played a prominent role and excluded goals from Moises Caicedo and Pape Sarr after halftime, but Chelsea deserved the points because their Champions League Challenge was back on track.
They started with much greater energy than in recent ominous performances. In the first minute, Nicolas Jackson was refused by his return to the side one-on-one by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, and saw that Micky van de Ven’s spotted clearance from him and against the post, before a moment later, Malo Gusto gun Marc Cucurella’s cross to the side of the side.

Caicedo had a view for Maresca who needed treatment on the field for a hamstring issue, especially with Romeo Lavia who had a setback in his rehabilitation due to an injury. The head coach does not have to worry, as Caicedo has recovered to give an excellent performance of the first half of strength and attitude to take out Spurs’ limited attacking presence.
In the end, there were a signs of life with the visitors after 37 minutes when the boy found Heung-Min space in the box and pulled a one-hand stop from Robert Sanchez. Levi Colwill then cleared sloppy, but James Maddison couldn’t take advantage and was easily pulled up from the ball.
Jadon Sancho was alive on the left, but was chastised by home fans for not shooting in good positions. He finally gave them their wish late in the first half, with a corner of a corner of Djed Spence and an excellent flight stop from Vicario.
Spurs blamed themselves for Chelsea’s opener five minutes in the second half. After Sancho got freedom in the box to Pirouette on the ball, judged options and put it off, Udogie did little, but he went to look while Fernandez was driving over him to meet Palmer’s Cross and nodded his side with the simplest head.

Spurs were then denied by an overview of the field after Sarr was in a beautiful equalizer from Long Range, while Spurs replacer Caicedo caught the knee when he won the ball for which he showed a yellow card.
Sanchez held out a second time after a Spurs counter in the last minute of the 90, before 12 extra minutes during which Ange Postecoglou’s side did not put Chelsea under a lot of pressure to challenge their lead.
