India A posted 265 runs in 49.2 overs against Sri Lanka A in the fourth match of the Tri-Nation ODI Series in Dambulla. After a middle-order collapse, Suryaansh Shedge and Vipraj Nigam stitched together a crucial 104-run partnership for the eighth wicket to help India A reach a competitive total.
India A Recover After Top-Order Collapse
The fourth match of the ongoing Tri-Nation 50-over Series featuring India A, Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A is being played in Dambulla on June 15. After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India A were bowled out for 265 runs in 49.2 overs.
Young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again provided a brisk start but failed to convert it into a substantial innings. However, impressive half-centuries from all-rounders Suryaansh Shedge and Vipraj Nigam helped India A recover from a difficult position and post a respectable total.
Shedge and Vipraj Lead the Fightback
Suryaansh Shedge played a brilliant knock of 72 runs off 66 balls, while Vipraj Nigam contributed a valuable 51 runs from 49 deliveries.
The duo came together when India A were struggling at 143/7 and built a crucial 104-run partnership for the eighth wicket, reviving the innings and frustrating the Sri Lankan bowlers.
Shedge's innings included three boundaries and two sixes, while Vipraj struck six fours during his composed half-century.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Fails to Capitalize on Fast Start
Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi looked in good touch early in the innings. He smashed a six and two boundaries against pacer Chamika Gunasekara but was dismissed for 21 runs off 14 balls after being caught at point off the bowling of off-spinner Sahan Arachchige.
Captain Tilak Varma (23) and vice-captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (32) then steadied the innings with a 52-run partnership for the third wicket.
Sri Lankan Spinners Trigger Collapse
India A appeared well-placed at 91/2 before Sri Lanka A's spinners turned the game around. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth trapped Ruturaj Gaikwad leg-before wicket, while Tilak Varma was caught at point off Kugathas Mathulan shortly afterward.
The wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, leaving India A in deep trouble before the lower-order rescue act.
Sri Lanka A Bowlers Shine
For Sri Lanka A, Mohammed Shiraz and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth were the standout performers with the ball, claiming three wickets each.
Their disciplined bowling on a slow Dambulla surface restricted India A despite the late surge from Shedge and Vipraj.
