This Holy Week, Christians from all over the world remember the crucifixion of the Son of God, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and, on Easter Sunday, we celebrate their glorious resurrection and proclaim, as Christians have done for almost 2,000 years, “He has resurrected!”

Through the pain and sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we saw the unlimited love and devotion of God for all humanity and, at that time of his resurrection, history changed forever with the promise of eternal life.

As we approach this cheerful Easter Sunday, I want to wish Christians everywhere a happy and very blessed vacation. The United States is a nation of believers. We need God, we want God and, with his help, we will make our nation stronger, safer, greater, more prosperous and more united than ever. Thank you and happy Easter!

President Donald Trump issued a message from Palm Sunday at the beginning of Holy Week, renewing the promise of his administration “of defending the Christian faith in our schools, military, workplaces, hospitals and government halls.”

“We will never hesitate by safeguarding the right to religious freedom, defending the dignity of life and protecting God in our public square,” Trump wrote in his presidential message of Holy Week 2025 published by the White House.

“As we focus on the redemptive sacrifice of Christ, we look at his love, humility and obedience, even in the most difficult and uncertain moments of life,” Trump said. “This week, we pray for an effusion of the Holy Spirit on our beloved nation. We pray for the United States to remain a lighthouse of faith, hope and freedom for everyone, and we pray to achieve a future that reflects the truth, beauty and goodness of the eternal kingdom of Christ in heaven.”

“May God bless your family during this special era of the year and continue to bless the United States of America,” Trump wrote.

Trump said he and the first lady Melania Trump “join in prayer with Christians who celebrate the crucifixion and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the living Son of God who conquered death, freed us from sin and unlocked the doors of heaven for all humanity.” The presidential message reiterated how Holy Week begins “with the triumphal entry of Christ to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday” and culminates “in the Triduum Paschal, which begins on Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, followed by Good Friday.” The week arrives at its “Pinnacle in the Pascil Vigil on the night of Holy Saturday”.

“This week is a moment of reflection for Christians to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus, and prepare their hearts, minds and souls for their miraculous resurrection of the dead,” Trump wrote.

“During this Sacred Week, we recognize that Easter Sunday’s glory cannot come without the sacrifice that Jesus Christ did on the cross,” said the president. “In his last hours on earth, Christ voluntarily endured unbearable pain, torture and execution on the cross of a deep and permanent love for all his creation. Through his suffering, we have redemption. Through his death, we are forgiven of our sins. Through their resurrection, we have hope of eternal life.”

Trump will sign the executive order established by the White House Faith office

“On Easter morning, the stone moves away, the tomb is empty and the light prevails over darkness, noting that death does not have the last word,” Trump said.
