Two men who allegedly tried to avoid police posts in Dunedin over the weekend were tracked by the police and both sounded four times the legal limit of alcohol.
Sergeant Anthony Bond of Dunedin said police tried to stop a vehicle at a control post in Cumberland St at 9:50 pm on Friday.
The 33 -year -old man, seeing the breathing test control post ahead, fled, causing the police to spread, said Snr Sgt Bond.
By the end of the night, they located the man at their residential address and the police made the man undergo breathing test procedures.
He recorded a level of 1105mcg breathing alcohol – more than four times the legal limit of 250mcg.
The man was charged with driving drinks and fails to remain stopped. He will appear in the District Court of Dunedin on Thursday.
About 15 minutes earlier, a 24 -year -old man turned into Dunedin’s parking lot to avoid a control post in Castle St.
Police followed the man to the parking lot and underwent breathing procedures.
He recorded a level of 934mcg breathing alcohol – almost four times above the 250mcg legal limit.
At 22:00 at the Cumberland St verification point, another 24 -year -old man also recorded a 934mcg alcohol level.
The two men will appear in Dunedin’s District Court at a later date.
