The administration of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, has granted exclusions of “reciprocal” steep tariffs on smartphones, computers and some other imported electronic products largely from China.
In a notice to the chargers, the US Customs and Border Protection Agency published a list of tariff codes excluded from import taxes.
The exclusions are retroactive to April 5.

It also included semiconductor devices, equipment, memory chips and flat screens.
This means that they will not be subject to the rates of 125 percent raised in China or the reference rates of 10 percent in other places.
The notice did not provide an explanation for the movement of the administration, but the night exclusion provides a welcome relief to the main American technology companies, including Apple, Dell Technologies and innumerable other importers.
Trump’s action excludes the specified electronics of its “basal” 10 percent tariffs on the goods of most countries that are not China, relieving import costs of the semiconductors of the iPhones of Taiwan and Apple produced in India.
For Chinese imports, exclusion only applies to Trump’s “reciprocal” rates, according to a White House official.
The previous tasks of 20 percent of Trump in all Chinese imports that, according to him, were related to the United States fentanyl crisis remain in force.
But the official said that Trump will launch a new national security investigation into semiconductors that could soon lead to other new rates.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that Trump has made it clear that the United States cannot trust China to make critical technologies such as semiconductors, chips, smartphones and laptops.
But she said that in the Trump direction, the main technology companies, including Apple and the manufacturers of Chips, Nvidia and Taiwan semiconductor “are undertaking to the manufacture on land in the United States as soon as possible.”
Exemptions suggest a growing awareness within the US administration of pain tariffs could inflict consumers tired of inflation.
With 125 percent, economists and analysts have said that US-China trade could stop largely.
The smartphones were the important American import of China in 2024, while laptops built by the Chinese were second, according to data from the United States Census office.
Trump campaigned to recover the White House last year largely in a promise to reduce the prices that had shot and tarnished the economic reputation of US President Joe Biden and his democratic allies.
But Trump also promised as a candidate to impose rates that have become a central part of his economic agenda, and the president has dismissed turbulence in financial markets and the expected price increases derived from taxes such as a disturbance that was a necessary part to realize the global economy and the world commercial order with his vision.
However, their so -called “reciprocal tariffs” raised fears of a recession of the United States and caused criticism of their republican companions, who do not want to lose control of the House of Representatives and the United States Senate in the elections in the middle of next year to the Democrats, who have abruptly criticized Trump’s policies.
Trump told reporters that he felt comfortable with high tariffs about China, but respected President Xi Jinping and believed that something good would come out of the commercial conflict between them.
While Trump arrested most of the country’s specific tariffs for 90 days after a fall in world stock markets earlier this week, a 125 percent tax for Chinese imports is still valid.
