Donald Trump said he would target films made outside the US as part of his ongoing tariff war.
The US president said the country’s film industry was “dying a very quick death”.
He complained that other countries offer ‘all kinds of incentives to draw’ filmmakers and film studios away from the United states.
In a post on his social media website Truth Social, he said it was a “joint effort from other nations and thus a national security threat”.
Mr Trump said he authorized the Department of Trade and the Office of the US Trade Representative to place a 100% tariff “on all films coming into our country that are produced in foreign countries”.
