Deontay Wilder will return to the ring in June and fight against Tyrrell Herndon in Kansas, and this has been confirmed.
Wilder fought last June when he had a cruel knock by Zhilei Zhang. The Chinese heavyweight dropped and stopped in round, when the American fell to a second straight loss in Saudi Arabia.
In his previous fight, Wilder was pointed out by Joseph Parker in December 2023, and he was tasked with winning in Wichita on June 27.
This is where the former World Champion (39) will box Herndon, who has been dreaming of this match for years.
In 2019, Herndon shared a photo of himself and Wilder on Instagram, with the heading: ‘Manifest of idols eventually become competitors …..’
Herndon, 37, has a professional record of 24-5 with 15 knockouts. The American will enter his match against Wilder (43-4-1, 42) on a three-match winning streak after fighting last in May when he defeated Rudy Silvas by a split decision.
Meanwhile, the back-to-back losses of Wilder followed a 2022 victory over Robert Helenius, which dropped the ‘bronze bombing’ of two straight losses to Tyson Fury.
Wilder, who fought Fury to a controversial draw in 2018, was stopped by the Brit in their 2020 Rematch and 2021 trilogy battle, as Fury demanded and retained the WBC belt.
