Democrats vowed to fight President Donald Trump’s tooth and nails on Wednesday and criticized his policies that “absurd, crazy, chaotic trade war began.”
Senate’s minority leader Chuck Sumer held a press conference just hours before Trump’s large tariff to reveal, where he called on Republicans to join the Democrats in the Senate in a measure to block the tariffs for Canadian goods.
“They know they are an increase in tax on the American people,” he said. “They know that the stock exchange is in turmoil, risking people retirement. They know that consumer confidence is reduced and the chances of recession-something that people hate, it is more difficult to find a job, to keep their weekly budget, if the recession is now, Tariff taxation.
“So, we will fight these toothpicks and nails. Trump has done a lot of bad things. It’s very upstairs,” said Sumer.

Senator Tim Kane, Democrat from Virginia, who introduced the Trump tariff resolution in Canada, said he expects a vote to be held between 6:00 pm and 19:00 ET.
Unlike most Senate legislation, the resolution will only need a simple majority. Only a handful of Republicans will have to stand up with the Democrats to hit this vote threshold.
President Trump, in the early morning post on his social media platform, pressed the Republicans to oppose the measure – reaching out to call some specific members of his party by name.
“Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkovski of Alaska, and Rand Paul, also from Kentucky, we hope to enter the Republican lane for change,” he wrote in his social media platform.
The President added the bill “It’s just a DEMS deadline to show and expose the weakness of certain Republicans, namely these four, since it does not go anywhere, because the chamber will never approve of it, as your president will never sign it.”
Hakem leader Hakem Jeffrries also prevented Trump’s tariffs, saying they would make the goods more expensive.
“This is not the day of Liberation. This is the day of recession in the United States of America,” Jeffrese said. “This will do Trump’s tariffs.”

Meanwhile, top -home republicans expressed confidence in President Trump before this Rose Garden was revealed. Although they admitted that it could be some “short -term pain” as a result.
“I believe in the president’s instincts,” said speaker Mike Johnson as he asked him from ABC News if he was concerned. “We fully support his initiatives and we will see how everything is shaken.”
“The president speaks in the state of the Union that this may be some short -term pain, in the end, we will have more things done in America in the long run, and we will get a fair attitude towards America from other countries,” said majority Steve Skalis leader.
