Eating only during the day can protect the workers in turn from the health hazards of the heart.
Experts from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom and Mass Brigham general in the United States say that previous research has shown that workplace shifts can lead to “serious” danger to cardiovascular health, but refreshments exclusively in daytime hours can relieve this.
The team worked with 20 healthy and young participants for a period of two weeks, where they did not have access to windows or watches to study the effect of circadian misalignment in the functions of their body.
In the study, the participants remained awake for 32 hours in a little illuminated environment, maintaining a constant posture of the body and eating identical snacks every hour.
They were then assigned to eat during the day or night, with the subsequent effects of food time on their cardiovascular risk factors examined.
It was discovered that risk factors were not affected for those who eat during the day.
Professor Frank Scheer, of the Brigham and Women Hospital, said: “Our previous research has shown that circadian misalignment, the mumification of our behavior cycle in relation to our internal body clock, increases cardiovascular risk factors.
“We wanted to understand what can be done to reduce the risk, and our new research suggests that food time could be that goal.”
