Passengers aboard Cunard Luxury Cruise Liner, Queen Anne, were warned to remain vigilant while the 113,000 tonnes of vessel by the waters is known for piracy.
A tiktok video from the user Cruisegypsyuk@Lillydapink, who has watched more than eight million times, showed an announcement to passengers as they traveled from Darwin, Australia, to Manila in the Philippines through the Sulu-Celebes Sea.
“This area is known for piracy threats,” they said via a speaker in their rooms.
As a result, the voyage would “work on an increased level of safety warning during this period, which includes the external promenade deck being closed overnight and” cover lights will be to reduce the external lighting of the ship. “
Passengers were also asked to eliminate their light room lights and keep their curtains pulled.
“I can assure you that measures to prevent any unlikely incident are well planned, and the likelihood of it happening on a big ship, as Queen Anne is absolutely minimal,” the announcement continued.
‘As part of standard maritime procedures, we can make captains of provision when they sail through certain regions,’ said a Cunard representative Business insider. “There was no specific threat to the ship or its guests, and our experience on board remained uninterrupted.”
In a follow-up post, the Tiktok user praised the Queen Anne’s onboard security and wrote: “So all the blinds were closed, and the lights were to a minimum last night. The security did an incredible job about the ship last night. Well done guys.”

In another video, she showed the sonic canon of the vessel. Many vessels are equipped with a long-distance acoustic device, which radiates a high, targeted noise that repels attackers.
The Sulu-Celebes Sea was previously a hotspot for incidents of kidnapping-for-Lansom, especially involving groups such as Abu Sayyaf-a violent Islamic separatist group working in the South Philippines.
Since March 2016, the Information Divisional Center of the Regional Consequence Agreement has reported a total of 86 kidnappings on the fight against pirate and armed robbery against ships in Asia.
The last important pirate attacks on vessels occurred in 2005 and 2009, both of which could successfully escape.
The Queen Anne is currently on his first world journey. The travel of 111 nights began on January 7 in Hamburg, Germany, and stopped in England, New York, Hawaii, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia
The ship will return to Hamburg on April 29, after stopping in Vietnam, South Africa, Singapore and Malaysia.
